Bell Mobility to Discontinue System Access Fee

Bell Mobility will soon follow its main rivals, Rogers Wireless and Telus Mobility, in scrapping the $6.95/month system access fee charged to postpaid cell phone customers, according to an internal company memo leaked on TheMobileNinjas.com.
Bell is the last Canadian carrier to charge the controversial fee, and is likely worried about alienating customers if it continues appearing on monthly phone bills.
The fee is expected to be formally scrapped on November 20 (Friday), at which time Bell customers will likely be given the option to renew their contracts at the new rate. It remains unclear if Bell will increase the cost of its basic plans (like Telus), or create a new regulatory' fee (like Rogers).
