Com Dev International Wins Satellite Broadband Contract

Cambridge, Ontario-based satellite technology manufacturer, Com Dev International, has won a $7 million contract to supply equipment for a new broadband communications satellite set to launch in the summer of 2010.

Com Dev will supply an unidentified customer with waveguide and coaxial switches for the commercial satellite.

This is a major switch order from a long-standing customer. I believe our unparalleled manufacturing capabilities and proven ability to deliver on large contracts was an important factor in the customer's decision, said Com Dev CEO, John Keating. Broadband communications represents an important driver of demand for additional communication satellite capacity, and when combined with the need for HDTV transmissions and the natural replacement cycle, helps make for a robust commercial marketplace.
