HTC to Offer Android-Based Touch HD Smartphone

HTC is developing an upgraded version of its Touch HD device, complete with a new operating system, according to a recent report by The Register, citing an unnamed source.

The HTC Touch HD 2 will reportedly be based on Google Android, distinguishing it from its predecessor which features a Windows Mobile operating system.

The new HTC smartphone is expected to have the same 3.8-inch touchscreen display as the original Touch HD, but will feature an improved 628-MHz processor. (The current Touch HD runs at 528-MHz.)
