Nokia had already filed a civil suit against Apple, which has fired back with its own intellectual property lawsuit in U.S. courts.
Apple infringes Nokia patents in virtually all of its mobile phones, portable music players and computers, Nokia said in a statement regarding its most recent complaint. These patented technologies are important to Nokia's success as they allow better user experience, lower manufacturing costs, smaller size, and longer battery life for Nokia products.
Nokia is accusing Apple's popular iPhone device of violating 10 patents related to wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption.
Nokia, which recently reported its first quarterly loss in a decade, has lost significant market share to the Apple iPhone since that device was launched in the summer of 2007.
